Peer Review Process
All submissions to the Journal undergo a rigorous peer-review process. The reviewers are requested to complete a brief written on whether the article is suitable for publication in the journal. The final decision is taken by the Editorial Board and communicated to the author(s). The stages involved in our review are as follows.
- The review process involves initial screening by the Journal editor to determine if the paper should be sent for external review. Submissions that fail thus test are sent back to the author(s) to work on it and resubmit.
- Each submission goes through an initial plagiarism check to ensure that it does not contain plagiarized materials. The process also helps us to determine the level of originality of the submission. A submission may not be sent for peer review if the similarity index is more than 20%. Such a submission will be sent back to the author(s) to work on it and resubmit.
- Submissions that pass the Editor’s checks and the plagiarism check are sent for a blind review by at least two experts in the field. The double-blind peer review allows reviewers to judge the manuscript based on content alone and not by the identity of the author(s).
- After the review, the reviewers send a report to the editor based on the categories listed below: Originality and creativity; Interest of the topic to the readers; Significance/usefulness; Mastery over subject; contribution to knowledge; Accuracy (Methodology); Comprehensiveness; Punctuation; Spelling and Grammar; References (up-to-date, appropriate, sufficient); Tables, Charts and Captions. In addition, the reviewers outline the strengths and weaknesses of the paper. The overall recommendation of the reviewer may be one if the following:
- Approved: Article should be accepted as it is.
- Approved with Minor Corrections: Article should be accepted after minor corrections
- Approved with Major Corrections: Article should be accepted after major corrections
- Resubmit: Article should be rewritten and resubmit it for review.
- Decline: Article should be submitted elsewhere.
- After the review reports have been received, the Editorial Team makes a decision about the paper and sends it to the author(s). The Journal’s editorial decisions are based on the scholarly merits of submissions and are not influenced by commercial interests, political affiliations, or other biases.
- Before the submission is accepted for publication, the author(s) is/are expected to review their paper (where appropriate) based on the report (if any).
- A copy of the revised manuscript and a word document outlining point-by-point the corrections they have made according to the reviewer’s comments are sent to the editor.
- The revised submission is then copyedited by the Journal’s copyeditor and sent to the author for final confirmation. At this stage the author is not allowed to make major changes in the manuscript. Only stylistic and typographical issues will be attended to.
- The final version is then filed for publication in the next volume/issue of the Journal.
